MUST PLAY PARTY GAME
There are two types of cards in the game.
For 'Word' cards: Players sing a song containing the word or its
variant in the lyrics (e.g., "Friend," "Friends," "Friendly").
For 'Category' cards: Players choose a song with lyrics fitting
the category (e.g., “Colors”, "Black", “Blue” or "Maroon").
Shuffle all the cards and place the deck face-down in the center of the table. The person with the next upcoming birthday starts the game. There are 3 game modes; begin with the first one to get a hang of it.
The starting player flips the top card, placing it next to the deck.
The first player to sing a matching song wins the card. Ties? Competing players have a sing-off with the same card or resort to rock-paper-scissors.
If everyone's stumped, discard the card and flip another. The player with the most cards at the end wins!
Remember, songs used once in the game cannot be sung again in later rounds.
The starting player flips the top card and sings a song that matches it. As play continues clockwise, each subsequent player also has 30 seconds to sing a different song that matches the same card (use a timer if needed). Repeated songs are not allowed.
Players failing to find a song within time are out for the round. Players continue singing, round after round, until only one remains. This last singer wins the card. The player next to the starting player then flips the card.
Lay out 9 cards face-up.
Players take turns, starting with the first player, to sing a song using
the words and categories on the cards.
Players take turns, trying to think of a song that includes the displayed words/categories. Players have 1 minute to come up with a song, aiming to one that covers as many cards as possible. If they do, they take all the cards they matched.
If they can't think of a song containing at least one of the displayed words/categories within the minute, they skip their turn.
After a player has sung, others can chime in by singing additional matching lyrics from the same song to claim any remaining cards. Before the next player's turn, refill the gaps with new cards.
Q: Do all the songs have to be in English?
A: Songs in any language are worth singing. Decide your preference before starting.
Q: Does "Lavender" fit into the "Colors" category?
A: For gray areas like this one, if a majority agree it fits a category, it does.
Q: Do I have to sing? I’m a terrible singer…
A: Remember, it's about fun, not vocal prowess. But if singing just isn't your thing, feel free to recite the lyrics!
